Pickleball Weather — Privacy Policy

Pickleball Weather ("the App") is developed and operated by YoloStart. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information.
1. Information We Collect
Location Information
The App collects your device's precise location (latitude and longitude) when you grant permission. Location data is used solely to retrieve local weather information and calculate playability ratings.
Location data:
- Is used only for weather forecasting functionality
- Is rounded to approximately 1 km precision on your device before being sent to any server
- Is transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our weather proxy service, which forwards it to our weather data provider
- Is temporarily cached in rounded form on our proxy service for 15–30 minutes to improve performance, then automatically deleted
- Is not permanently stored on our servers and is never associated with any user identity
- Is stored locally on your device to remember your selected location and enable scheduled notifications
You may revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
2. How We Use Information
Location information is used to:
- Retrieve local weather forecasts
- Calculate playability ratings
- Support user-scheduled weather notifications
- Periodically refresh weather data using background fetch
We do not use location data for advertising, tracking, or profiling.
3. Notifications
If you enable notifications, the App may send local notifications scheduled by you. These notifications are generated on your device and do not require a remote server.
You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
4. Weather Proxy Service
Pickleball Weather routes weather requests through a proxy service (api.pickleball-weather.com) hosted on Cloudflare. This service protects API credentials and caches weather data to improve performance. Location coordinates are rounded to approximately 1 km precision on your device before being sent to any server. No full-precision location ever leaves the app.
5. Data Cached on Our Service
Rounded location coordinates and weather data are temporarily cached for 15–30 minutes to reduce redundant requests, then automatically deleted. No personally identifiable information — including IP addresses, device identifiers, or user agent strings — is stored on our servers.
6. Analytics & Tracking
The App does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies on your device. Our proxy service collects anonymous, aggregate usage statistics, including daily request counts and approximate geographic distribution (rounded to approximately 11 km grid). These statistics contain no personally identifiable information and are used solely to monitor service health and plan capacity.
7. Third-Party Sharing
Weather requests are forwarded from our proxy service to our weather data provider (Open-Meteo), which receives only rounded location coordinates. Open-Meteo processes this data per their own privacy policy. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
8. Children's Privacy
Pickleball Weather is not directed toward children under 13. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. User Controls
You can disable location and notification permissions through your device settings. Our proxy service does not maintain user accounts or store any data linked to individual users. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. There is no server-side personal data to delete.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date.
